Darcie

Darcie came to Yorkshire Cat Rescue as part of a bonded pair with his much-loved companion, Muffin, after their owner sadly became too ill to care for them. Both boys were over 19 years old when they arrived with us, and Darcie has always been the quieter, shyer of the two. He took great comfort from Muffin’s presence, often letting him lead the way while he watched carefully from just behind.

Because of their age and Muffin’s medical needs, including diabetes, they stayed with us a little longer than usual while we found the right foster home. Darcie relied heavily on Muffin for confidence, and the bond between them was truly special to witness.

Very sadly, Muffin passed away peacefully just days before his 21st birthday. He was deeply loved and exceptionally well cared for, and he knew nothing but kindness and comfort until the end. Darcie is now learning how to navigate the world without his lifelong friend, and we are taking things gently and at his pace.
