About us Where your money goes Where your money goes Where Your Money Goes As with all charities, Yorkshire Cat Rescue submits annual reports to the Charity Commission. Income and Expenditure Generally speaking approximately 70% of all expenses are incurred on direct costs, such as vet bills, food etc. The balance is spent on overheads, such as salaries, heating, insurance, vehicle costs etc. In previous financial years, large legacies were received. This enabled the charity to operate at a profit, not a loss, but this is not guaranteed income. In 2015 the charity changed legal structure to become a CIO, and in so doing closed the previous charity (registration number 1058218). All assets of the old charity were transferred to the new charity and this appears in the accounts for the period ending 31 March 2016. This gives an inflated image of the charity's income for that period. Cat Numbers The charity aims to rescue 800-1400 cats per year. The number has increased year on year since the new CEO took over in 2023. A minimum of 1000 cats per year is attainable, although kitten litter size's can play a large part in determining how many cats do actually come to the rescue. The Future The Yorkshire Cat Rescue site was situated at the property of it's founder, however after many years of renting this property and land we now have a plan in motion to buy it, this will secure the future of the Charity on this site. Our vision is to build a veterinary area on site at some point, a TNR building, a quarantine area and a bigger area for mums & kittens. The estimated cost of this is in excess of £350,000 Manage Cookie Preferences
