Spuds Legacy

Spud's Legacy

Join Spuds Legacy today and help us generate a stable monthly income for the cats by donating......

JUST £2 A MONTH.

Spud was found on a road on his own at 5 days old, his mum was feral and had dropped him while moving her kittens to another location. He was raised by me ( Lynn ) the CEO of YCR, day and night we went through 2 hour feeds, emergency vet trips when i thought I was going to lose him, he continued to fight. His left eye had a huge ulcer and the vets thought that if he survived this would need to be removed. Our boy was a fighter, against all the odds he survived and not only that, his eye healed and he only lost 15% of the vision in this eye.

The world fell in love with him as did I, he just had a way of making people happy, bringing people together and he also brought hope and awareness to our Charity.

The public asked for him to be our Mascot, something that we have never had at YCR and what a Mascot he was!

You see, he wasn’t just a hand reared kitten, or just a Mascot, he was a huge part of the Yorkshire Cat Rescue family, and part of the lives of thousands of people around the world, who all followed his journey and adventures.

With his big personality, cheeky charm and gentle spirit, Spud brought smiles to so many faces. Whether you met him in person or watched his adventures online. He just had an incredible way of making people feel connected, hopeful and happy, he was everyone's baby boy and we all shared his life as one connected family.

Sadly Spud passed away suddenly at only 20 months old on the 23rd April 2025, he went to sleep in the garden in his favourite place listening to his Sky Aliens and never woke up.

My entire world stopped in the moment I found out he had passed, hearts across the world broke into a thousand pieces when his passing was announced.

The truth is, I wasn't sure I would ever recover from losing our little boy, for me personally Spud was "YCR" and I wasn't sure I could continue without him.

I decided that I wanted his life to continue to help YCR and all the other cats and kittens that he stood for, I wanted to honour our amazing and special boy by making YCR, bigger and better, to enable us to save more cats and kittens than we have ever saved before.

Spud’s Legacy was created in his memory, in the hope we will be able to make our rescue more stable with a regular monthly income that will help us to grow the Charity and be able to save more lives than we have ever saved before and all in Spud's name.

The love people had for Spud hasn’t gone away, If anything it has only grown even stronger and has brought more awareness to the Charity.

We now believe that he was supposed to be here for a short time, not a long time, so that he could create the following he did, to support and keep the rest of the cats and kittens safe through his legacy.

Spud spent his short life surrounded by kindness, love and care, we want every cat to be able to feel this in their lives, by joining Spud's Legacy and donating just £2 a month, you can help us achieve this in his memory.

Through Spud’s Legacy we aim to help even more cats and kittens every year who desperately need to be given the same chance he had.

Every monthly sign up, by text or direct debit to Spud’s Legacy will go towards stabilising the Charity and enabling us to save more lives than we have ever saved before.

We can support more abandoned and vulnerable cats at Yorkshire Cat Rescue with a steady monthly income from you all in Spud's memory.

Your support will help us provide:

*Upgraded facilities for the sicker and weaker cats

*Additional holding pens that we desperately need

*Specialist food

*Funding for basic and specialist veterinary treatment

And ultimately then give more cats the chance to find a forever home and experience love and happiness.

Many of the cats who come to us arrive frightened, injured or alone. With your help, we can give them the second chance they deserve, just like Spud had.

Spud touched so many lives, he brought awareness about the vital work YCR does, he brought us together and he gave us hope.

Join us now, together we can make sure his wish for all cats to have a better life continues in his memory.

If Spud ever made you smile, comforted you on a difficult day, or simply made you feel part of something special, we invite you to honour his memory with us today and join Spud's Legacy.

By joining Spud’s Legacy, you will be helping another cat start their own new chapter, one filled with safety, love and hope.

Because of your support, our baby boy Spud will live on in every life we save through this program.

Thank you for being part of his story.

And thank you for helping his legacy continue to save so many more sick and vulnerable cats and kittens. ❤️

We are looking for all our followers to sign up to JUST £2 a month, we wont ask you to increase this, we just need everyone to commit to £2 a month. Lots of littles will make a lot, 10,000 of our 50,000 followers signed up to this it would mean a stable £20,000 a month income. This would be huge for us and help us to grow YCR and help more cats and kittens.

£2 a month is less than a takeaway coffee, a magazine or if you are like me..... a glass of the "PINK STUFFS"

£2 on it's own wont make a difference, but £2 from all of you together for Spud each month will make a huge difference.
